Roles and Responsibilities

Clear roles and responsibilities are essential to the effective and ethical operation of Apex Care Foundation. They ensure that everyone involved – from trustees and staff to volunteers and partners – understands their contribution to our mission and is accountable to the people we serve.

Our governance structure is designed to create transparency, support collaboration and safeguard the integrity of our work at every level.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees holds ultimate legal and strategic responsibility for the charity. Key responsibilities include:

  • Upholding the charity’s mission, values and objectives

  • Ensuring compliance with UK charity law and regulatory obligations

  • Approving strategic plans, policies and budgets

  • Overseeing risk management and safeguarding

  • Monitoring financial performance and use of funds

  • Reviewing organisational performance and impact

  • Acting in the best interests of the charity and avoiding conflicts of interest

Trustees also serve as ambassadors for the organisation and are expected to act with independence, integrity and accountability.

Operational Leadership & Staff

Operational leaders are responsible for managing the delivery of programmes and day-to-day activities. Their responsibilities include:

  • Implementing the strategic direction set by the Board

  • Managing teams, partnerships and stakeholder relationships

  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, privacy and data protection standards

  • Overseeing programme design, delivery and evaluation

  • Coordinating communications, fundraising and outreach efforts

  • Managing budgets, logistics and reporting

Where the foundation operates with a small or growing team, some functions may be supported by contracted professionals, consultants or pro bono advisors.

Volunteers

Volunteers are an essential part of our workforce. Their roles vary depending on skills and capacity, but may include:

  • Supporting programme activities or events

  • Mentoring children and young people

  • Providing administrative, digital or creative support

  • Offering professional expertise (e.g. training, safeguarding, communications)

  • Acting as local ambassadors and community connectors

All volunteers are expected to comply with our safeguarding, code of conduct and data protection policies, and receive appropriate induction and training for their role.

Partners & Collaborators

Partner organisations play a critical role in expanding our reach and enhancing impact. Their responsibilities include:

  • Delivering or co-delivering specific services or programmes

  • Collaborating on project planning, execution and evaluation

  • Adhering to agreed quality, safeguarding and reporting standards

  • Operating transparently and ethically in alignment with our shared goals

We maintain clear partnership agreements to outline expectations, responsibilities and communication channels.

When roles are clear and responsibilities are embraced, we build a foundation of trust, consistency and impact. At Apex Care Foundation, every person involved is part of something greater – working together to create change that lasts.
